Ok, we're meeting every other Saturday at Magic Dragon Games. We meet from 11pm-1am and do show some mature content (no, not porn. Just nudity and violence).

06/16/06

I lost my web server data for about a year.  The club is still partially active.   We meet irregularly at Magic Dragon Games. If you want more up-to-date information, either go to anime.meetup.com/29 or join the mailing list (which is spam free and ran off of my server box).

03/17/05

Meetings are temporarily suspended. We will have one more Library! meeting, since I've got one scheduled in April. For now, we need to draw in new members and decide when and where to meet.

08/02/04

Meetings will go back to the Library! on 2nd Sundays in September. For now, we'll be alternating at Morgaine's and my place with meetings at Steve's house on the last Sunday of the month. We have flyers now, with strips that we'll start distributing after the 2nd Sunday of this month (to avoid people showing up at the Library! when it's closed).

Things have been happening. Good things and bad. I just had to reinstall my OS, but the good news is that my mail server doesn't seem to crash any more. I just switched ISPs (which was more of a pain in the butt than it should have been) and that helped increase the down time of the web and mail servers. We've been attending anime meetups, restructured the club, started helping with Fandemonium a bit (Local fan based con) and have slowly been attracting new members.

02/04/04

Ack. We lost almost 2 years worth of scheduling and web page updates. Check out the schedule page for an update on showing locations and venues. I'll be (albeit slowly) rebuilding the web site to it's former glory as well.

07/18/02

Club membership has been climbing insanely. We've got about 15 regular members now, not all who can attend meetings at the same time. Meetings have varied from 6 to 12 people. We may need to find a larger space, so if you've (for example) got an apt. complex with an entertainment room and large screen, let us know.

05/25/02

It's been a while since the last news update ;(. Anime Oasis was mostly a success. We had an advertising problem, so many people (even in the local area) didn't know that it was going on. We picked up at least one new club member, who also has a pretty impressive collection.  Other than that, Erika has moved and will no longer hold the Secretary/Treasurer position. As things stand, we only have the office of the President. The idea behind the positions and a partially completed Constitution was to make the club more palatable for insertion as a BSU club. As such, we would have larger viewing rooms and better A/V equipment. So far, this hasn't panned out.

02/26/02

Meetings are going to alternate again, 2 weeks at Dave & Erics and 1 week at Jeremy's. Anime Oasis has full funding now and should be a success.  A local advertising campaign has started.

01/23/02

I'm trying to keep up with new things, unfortunately the club has become semi-stagnant. The main news is that Jeremy, our VP has resigned. This will probably mean that we'll need to locate meetings at an additional local. On a lighter note, AnimeOasis looks like it's going to get off of the ground.  The address is : http://www.animeoasis.org which will be the first anime convention in the Boise area.

09/17/01

It's been a while since I've posted any news. Not a lot has been happening, but we (at least 3 of us) will be going to Nan Desu Kan Go in Denver. We should have fun and we'll work out who'll report the fun.  I may be the target as I'll be present for the whole con.  I'll be working there though, so I may not get the opportunity to see as much as I'd like. Also, since it's been forever since I've updated this page, the current officers (voted in a couple of months ago) are:

President:  Eric Mcveeth

Vice President:  Jeremy Lopett

Secretary/Treasurer: Erica Hakubi

Well, we had 2 semi-marathons this month on the previous Saturday and Sunday. Attendance was typical. Basically Borneo, Dave and Court showed up, along with my friend Matt. What can I do to increase meeting attendance?  I'd like to continue having marathons, but I'd also like more people present.

05/12/01

The Marathon meetings will be moved to Sunday, hopefully more of you can show up, the attendance is usually pretty pitiful. Please let me know when you think you can attend and I'll try to make it so that as many of you as possible are free to attend.

04/24/01

The meeting tonight was very successful. We had a total of 10 people in and out, which is more than usual (though still a bit pitiful, the meeting places can't handle much more than that). A few members will be going to Sakura Con, I hope to hear some decent reports and see some pictures.

04/02/01

I moved the mailing list onto my mail server. Send a message to listserv@shurato.net (I'm looking to get an easier domain to remember) with the body of: subscribe monac to subscribe to the list. It's more limited, but free of yahoo.com and other group spam.

03/13/01

Sorry for the lack of news, I've been ill. Meetings are having less and less people show lately, we really need some sort of membership drive. We've gotten a couple of new members, which helps. I fixed the wrong dates and places which had been on the schedule page.

12/19/00

Meeting was a bit short on attendance, hopefully more people will be able to come to the meetings at Eric's in the future, I enjoy having larger attendances. The auction went pretty much uncontested with an amount to be disclosed on the mailing list going towards the club (somewhere between 5 and 8 dollars I think). Those who were present and bid, got some pretty good deals, and a decent amount (many items I had 100% go to the club) was made for the club for such a small attendance and only one person auctioning items.

12/15/00

I'm going to attempt Monthly or Bi-Montly Marathons at my place on the first tuesday of the month. Planned for January 02 2001 is a dual marathon Shurato Eps 1-12+ in the TV room and Hyper Police 1-12 in the computer/bedroom. Be sure to bring drinks and food, we'll probably take frequent breaks. Everyone is welcome, but keep in mind that seating is limited (I'll grab some chairs from the common area again), so bring a folding chair if you can. RSVP if possible, so this doesn't get out of hand and 25 people show up :). We can easily host around 15 people without any serious logistics problems (as long as chairs are brought, or people stand or sit on the floor.).

12/14/00

The web site is in the middle of (actually about 2/3s of the way through) some major changes which will allow it to load more quickly and put things that belong together on one page instead of scattered amongst the breezes.  Items to be discussed at tonight's meeting are the potential booth at the SUB, fund raising options and the potential of our club becoming an official BSU club (which will require the writing of a constitution).  One of the next things I'll be doing is breaking up this page as it's getting rather huge.  I've already done that with the showings/schedule page. Auctions will begin at the next meeting and will be open. Anyone willing to put items up are more thena welcome, just post a message to the list with what you're auctioning off, starting bid, and % amount of sale to go to the club.

12/04/00

Court was elected President. Eric was elected Vice President. Dan and I were elected to share the responsibility of keeping people in line during meetings.  I was also voted as the Web Master. The domain monac.org will be ours soon as well. We've been slowly gathering new members, which is great!

11/21/00
Ok, I'm a bit more sane than I was earlier ;). I've still resigned as President, and meetings will no longer be held at my Apt. The web site will be maintained, and will probably undergo a major face lift as soon as I get some better web dev tools. Also, I'm again seriously thinking about registering a domain for the club, with redirection features. This costs approx. $15/year. Suggestions for reliable services are more than welcome. Full domain redirection would be best, so I could have a telnet.domain, ftp.domain, irc.domain, news.domain, etc. instead of just a www domain. Redirection would have to be controlled on a port level, if anyone does that. I think darktech might. I already use them for my "shurato.net" free domain and they do offer full domain hosting, but I'm not sure how much it costs. I'm also researching some IRC services for my server. I'm hoping to put it online permanently with a password required, and have full service support for nickserv, chanserv, opserv and others.

11/20/00
I've tendered my resignation as President to the mailing list. Meetings will no longer be held at my Apt. This web site will no longer be maintained; we desperately need a new web master with some storage space and no banners.

11/08/00

Hey, I'm on a roll! I won a Kenshin figure! Now I just have to attempt to paint it without turning it into something hideous;). We had 2 new shows, and hopefully this will continue, as well as increase regular meeting attendances. We didn't watch much of anything, though it wasn't for lack of my trying. We just chatted about anime and video games, listened to a bunch of anime mp3s and had assorted anime going on in the background.

10/24/00
I finally won a prize, a Cutey Honey Shitajiki (pencil board). The meeting was a bit low in attendance, with only 4 people there. We need to pull a bunch of BSU students into the club somehow so we can get a/v equipment and a/v rooms at BSU. Half of the attending members have to be BSU students for us to qualify.

9/14/00
I had another router go down, but fortunately I had an extra that promptly took it's place. Court won the prize from the last meeting, a Nuku Nuku Lami Card. Pretty nice. I'm hoping for the Cutey Honey Shitajiki coming up, but knowing the way things have gone so far, Dan will probably be the one to win it;).

8/30/00
My DSL router has been replaced and the BBS et. al. is back up. Last night, a group from MoNAC went to go see Princess Mononoke at the Flicks. It was pretty fun. There were parts where it was a bit slow, but not very many. The character interaction, and interaction with the Animal Gods were particularly well done. The ending can really only be seen in the cinema, it was so outstandingly graphically animated.

8/23/00
We've had some pretty good attendance, despite my Internet outtage. My DSL router died and my system was heavily configured for dial-up accounts not to work. I finally got a temporary dial-up account with my ISP and with a bit of re-configuring, I've at least got slow access. I'll try to update the rest of the pages as they need to be.

6/10/00
We've been getting a few new members each month. Unfortunately, meeting at residences isn't convenient for many people. We need to find a public meeting place that isn't as restrictive as the Library's room that we were using and is free. If we can bulk up on BSU students, we can make an official club and should be able to snag a/v rooms and equipment for reasonably long meetings with potentially much more space. Please take a look at the Showings page for some other changes... And as always, email me (Marty/Shurato) from the contacts page if you need directions or have any questions. On July 8, we're planning on having a club meeting for lunch or dinner. Location has not been determined. I think Shige's would be appropriate as it's a Japanese restaurant, though others may want the steak-house option. I'd like to have the option of fresh and custom made sashimi.

5/16/00
Added Shurato's Heavenly Sphere ANSI Telnet BBS to the Anime BBS list on anipike, and resubmitted link change for BAKA to MONAC. The old link still shows, but it automatically redirects to the new site. Now that Court and I both have DVD players, the variety of what we can show, and the quality has increased dramatically.

4/26/00
The club's name has officially been changed to MoNAC, the Middle of Nowhere Anime Club. I'm updating links and the pages as quickly as I can.

3/28/00
This meeting wasn't too successful, but certainly better than all the no-shows in a row that I had at the library! We still had a good time, though there were only 3 of us. Four people who had RSVPd didn't show up, which was a little dissapointing, but I'm used to that sort of thing by now.

3/16/00
If not noted, meetings will be scheduled on alternating tuesdays and thursdays. Tuesdays at my place, Thursdays at Court's. Due to my illness, I don't always update the web pages, but I try to when I feel up to it. Just keep an eye on the showings page and you can figure out when and where the next meeting will be. Plus, you can always ask on the mailing list. I'm going to try to start using the calendar events in egroups, like I used to as well to keep people up to date. Anway, this last meeting was a smashing success!

1/8/00
The dial-up node for my BBS is fully functional. I've still got work to do to make the CD areas automatic instead of manual where it comes to which are mounted and which aren't. The number is available in the BBS frame (208)345-7037 ( It's a Boise, ID local number). The BBS is connected to a distinctive ring box, so it might take a few rings more than usual for it to answer. The next meeting will be held at Court's house (details in the showings frame).
